Why You Should Never Leave Home Without Sunscreen

Sunny days are ideal for getting some exercise outside, but the sun's rays may cause serious harm to your skin, especially since you're exposed to them in more ways than you might think every day.

Even a small amount of exposure to the sun's radiation can harm your skin if you don't wear sunscreen. As the skin's outer layers darken to filter out the sun, that golden tan is the first symptom of solar damage. Sunscreen protection is essential to avoid further, irreparable skin damage.

Sunscreen has more advantages than just protecting your skin from the sun. Summer means it's time to get to the store and buy some sunscreen. The truth is that we should use sunscreen every single day of the year. It doesn't matter if it's summer or winter; you should always protect your skin from the sun. This is something that SPF can assist with. Sunscreen may not appear to be effective at first, but it will pay off in the long run.

How does sunscreen protect your skin?

Sunscreen protects the skin from the sun's harmful UV radiation by acting as a barrier to the sun's rays.

Sunscreen is divided into two types: physical and chemical. Active minerals like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which reflect and scatter light, are commonly found in physical sunscreens. As a result, it can act as a physical barrier, preventing UV radiation from accessing your skin.

How do I apply sunscreen correctly?

Apply sunscreen 15–20 minutes before going outside as a general guideline. Chemical sunscreens require time to be absorbed into the skin before they can operate.

It takes no more than 5 minutes to apply sunscreen. Make sure your skin is completely dry before slathering it on all exposed portions of your body.

You should anticipate applying at least 3 fingers to the face and neck. Remember to pay attention to the ears, backs of the hands, and tops of the feet!

Sunscreen should be reapplied on a frequent basis. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, or every hour if you're swimming or sweating a lot, to keep your skin protected.

How Often Should Sunscreens Be Used?

When your skin is exposed to the sun, sunscreen acts as a shield against the damaging UV rays that penetrate the skin's barrier. As a result, it is recommended that you use sunscreen every day. Although you may not feel the benefits right away, applying sunscreen has long-term benefits. If you're out in the sun for an extended period of time, whether working or relaxing on the beach, it's a good idea to reapply sunscreen every two hours to avoid sunburn.
